Getting Started with Inventory

Inventory tracks all your equipment, stock, and consumables across every location.

Setting up your catalogue

Before tracking stock, you need items in your catalogue.

  1. Go to Inventory → Items.
  2. Click Create Item.
  3. Fill in the name, category, and any custom fields relevant to your operation.
  4. Set the default warehouse location.
  5. Enter an opening stock quantity if the item is already in stock.

Categories

Organise your catalogue with categories and subcategories. Go to Inventory → Settings → Categories to create and manage them. Assign items to categories when creating or editing them.

Warehouses

OpsOS supports multiple warehouses. Add locations in Inventory → Settings → Warehouses, then stock is tracked per location. When you check items in or out, you specify which warehouse they're moving to or from.

Your first stock movement

Once items are in the catalogue:

  • Check out — select the item, quantity, and destination. Confirms the items have left the warehouse.
  • Check in — mark returned items back into stock.
  • Transfer — move stock between two warehouses.

All movements are logged automatically with a timestamp and the user who made the change.
