Barcode Scanning

Scan items in and out using any device with a camera — phone, tablet, or a dedicated barcode scanner.

Assigning barcodes

Items need a barcode or QR code assigned before they can be scanned.

  1. Open an item in Inventory → Items.
  2. Click Edit and enter the barcode value, or let OpsOS generate one.
  3. Print the label from the item page and attach it to the equipment.

Scanning on the floor

  1. Open Inventory → Scan on any device.
  2. Point the camera at the barcode or QR code.
  3. OpsOS identifies the item and shows its current stock details.
  4. Select the action — check in, check out, or add to a prep sheet.

Scanning into prep sheets

When building a prep list for a job, you can scan items directly into the sheet instead of searching manually. Open the prep sheet, tap Scan, and scan each item. Quantities are added automatically.

Containers

Scan a container to move all of its contents at once. Check out the container and everything inside checks out too. No need to scan individual items when the whole flight case is going on the truck.

Troubleshooting

  • Item not found — the barcode hasn't been assigned to an item yet. Search manually and assign it from the item page.
  • Wrong quantity — check the movement history to see if a previous check-in/out left the stock in an unexpected state.
